Our Disability Attorney in Indiana, Gene, has over 35 years of experience in the practice of law. Throughout his career, he has focused more and more on Social Security disability and SSI cases, until he now accepts only such cases. Gene has represented clients disabled by a wide variety of physical and mental impairments, appearing before the administrative law judges of the Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Louisville, Evansville, Danville, Illinois and Chattanooga, Tennessee Social Security hearing offices. He also handles appeals to the Social Security Administration’s Appeals Council, as well as lawsuits in Federal court, seeking reversal of unjust decisions by the Social Security Administration.
By accepting only Social Security disability and SSI cases, Gene feels that he is better is able to do the best possible job on those cases. He maintains an extensive library of print and online resources specific to disability law, and he stays up-to-date on the latest relevant legal and medical information through regular attendance at national seminars for disability lawyers.
Gene is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives and a member of the Indiana, Bartholomew County and Monroe County Bar Associations. He has chaired the Board of Directors of Legal Services Organization of Indiana and served on the board of its successor, Indiana Legal Services, Inc. He is a recipient of the Indiana Bar Foundation’s statewide Pro Bono Publico Award, in recognition of his service to those in need.

Tim E. Staggs
Tim received his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, in psychology from Butler University. He earned his juris doctorate, cum laude, from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, where he served as the Executive Notes Editor of the Indiana Law Review and his student note was selected for publication. During law school, Tim also served as an Executive Board Member and Civil Procedure classroom tutor for the Dean’s Tutorial Society, as Secretary of the International Human Rights Law Association, and as a representative member of the Student Government Association.
Prior to joining G. Gene Arnholt, Attorney at Law, Tim worked as a solo practitioner focusing on motions and appellate law, and he served as a judicial clerk to the Hon. Nancy J. Vaidik on the Indiana Court of Appeals. While still in law school, Tim served as a judicial intern for the Hon. William H. Lawrence of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, where he worked primarily on federal appeals of Social Security disability cases. Before law school, Tim worked as a case manager for mentally ill adults, often assisting his clients in a non-legal capacity when they applied for disability benefits.
Tim is admitted to practice law in the State of Indiana and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. He is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the Bartholomew County Bar Association, and he is a sustaining member of the National Organization of Social Security Claimants Representatives.
